Brand-new green district centre to be built in Zugló, Budapest – PHOTOS
In the past decade and a half, several plans and ideas were thrown around about how Bosnyák Square would be renewed, but now, it might have finally reached a stage where one of them could be realised.
According to the most recent plans by the mayor of Zugló, an area within Budapest, the brand-new designs for Bosnyák Square will make it into a multi-purpose green area. It will become the district hall, the main square of the district, a market, and a clinic, reports Zugló.
These grandiose plans would be realised in a 6-8 thousand square metre main square with a promenade. The new building with a modern design would be located right next to the promenade. The establishment would provide shopping opportunities, healthcare, and parking thanks to an underground garage.
The designs and concept art were made by Lima Design Kft. In addition to the square receiving a facelift, the city quarter behind Bosnyák Square will also be rebuilt.

Bayer Construct says that their design will fit the modern style of the new building perfectly, and it will be supplemented by a shopping street, a main square, and several park areas, making it a green city development.
On Csömöri Street, new office and residential buildings will be built. The constructions just now mentioned are designed by the world-renown Zaha Hadid’s architecture company, whose CEO showed the design at the plan presentation ceremony, reports Zugló.
The mayor of Zugló, Csaba Horváth, highlighted that during the planning of Bosnyák Square, the main goal was to increase the green area of the already green district by a large margin.
This consideration will result in over 35,000 square metres of new green area. The green areas of the surrounding streets will constitute about 13,000 square metres of green areas, and they will be available to the public, Hellómagyar reports.
The mayor added that, according to previous plans, a shopping mall would have been built at the same place, but with this new direction, a “liveable, smart, and sustainable” district centre will be built.
The leadership of the city district also think of it as an investment as stores in the area and in the building would pay a certain sum that could go directly into the development of greener technologies in the district.
A public forum on the renewal of Bosnyák Square will be held on November 23rd.
